Focus Counselling and Psychotherapy was established in 1997. Both practitioners are fully qualified, experienced therapists and members of Nationally recognised bodies setting ethical standards and criteria for appropriate professional practice and development. In addition Focus Counselling and Psychotherapy holds its own ethos in relation to the ongoing professional standards and requirements of its practitioners, including ongoing training and experiential process needs.
Central to the approach of the therapeutic process from our perspective, is to facilitate the experience for the client of being met. This means creating a safe trusting environment where personal experience can be explored beyond the bounds of the familiar social limitations and expectations. In essence, the intrinsic value of this process is the holding of a place where you may more freely and more fully experience your Self.
The primary approach of all practitioners at this Practice is Humanistic and Integrative. Humanistic is the term used to describe an approach that holds respect and regard for the individual as a whole person having the potential to change, heal and grow. Integrative refers to the presence of a broad base of creative approaches to working with clients. Among the approaches at this practice are person-centred, gestalt, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural and analytic.
